Lucknow – Renowned educationist and Founder of City Montessori School, Dr Jagdish Gandhi was honoured with the prestigious ‘Fr. J. Maurus National Award’ for his unparalleled services in the field of education. At a glittering award ceremony, held recently in Alberione Hall, Bandra, Mumbai, under the aegis of Society of St. Paul, Dr Gandhi was awarded a cash of Rs. 25,000.00 and a citation by Rev. John Rodrigues, Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Mumbai. Many eminent personalities like Rev. Fr. Varghese Gnalian, Provincial Superior and Dr. Snehal Pinto, Director, Ryan International Group of Institutions, Mumbai, were present on this occasion.
Dr Gandhi has donated this amount of honour, Rs. 25000/- for the education of poor children. Mr Hari Om Sharma, Chief Public Relations Officer of CMS informed that by conferring this award, Dr Jagdish Gandhi has been awarded with yet another honour for his ongoing endeavours since 60 years for the education of children and their all-round personality development, rights of children and world unity and world peace and it is a matter of great pride for the Lucknowites. The entire life of Dr Gandhi is devoted to the cause of children, therefore, this award will accelerate his demand to establish a safe and peaceful world order for over two billion children of the world.
Mr. Sharma informed that being impressed by the works of Father of Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, Acharya Vinoba Bhave and several other renowned figures of India, Dr Gandhi took vow to implant the seeds of peace and unity in world’s children from their childhood through a unique pedagogy. And to accomplish his vow, he laid the foundation of City Montessori School, with 5 children and a borrowed 300 rupees and without any personal property, in the year 1959 in Lucknow city which currently has over 56000 students taking quality education.
Mr Sharma further said that Dr Jagdish Gandhi strongly believes children are the future of he world and to make this world a better place, we must make children good and smart and Dr Jagdish Gandhi is untiringly involved in this mission for the past 60 years. City Montessori School has secured space in the Guinness Book of World Records for world’s largest school in terms of pupils and it has also been awarded with UNESCO Prize for Peace Education in the year 2002. Besides, several national and international awards has also been bestowed upon Dr Gandhi for his commendable works.
Mr Sharma said that for over six decades, Dr Jagdish Gandhi has been deeply involved in ensuring the all round development of children by imparting quality education. Due to the continuous efforts of Dr Jagdish Gandhi, not only has City Montessori School achieved international acclaim in education but the city of Lucknow has become the hub of Total Quality Education. Dr Jagdish Gandhi is totally involved and dedicated in his mission of spreading value-based quality education that include human and moral values, world brotherhood and the ideals of Divinity and equality among all the children of the world.
